Smith

A friend writes:
I keep tabs on Smith because my wife went there. As a high school kid she was so sheltered that she had *no* idea what she was getting into. She just thought it was a quiet girls' school with a good English department. In selecting her freshman dorm, she opted for the one that had "pink triangles and rainbows" in its description because she likes pink and rainbows.
Boy, was she surprised.

But, the point is that sheltered girls who like pink and rainbows are The Oppressors, so they can't be allowed to enjoy what The Victimized enjoy. In modern America, you don't need to think through the implications of principles of fair play, tolerance, and the like, all you need to know is which groups are Bad and which are Good. It makes everything much simpler.

"In 2003, Smith students voted to remove pronouns from the language of the Student Government Association constitution, in order to make that document inclusive of transgendered students who don't identify with the female pronouns "she" and "her."[27]
Transgender women, however, are not allowed to attend Smith unless all their legal documentation consistently states they are female. This policy came to public attention in March 2013 when Smith rejected the application of a trans woman named Calliope Wong."

It's difficult enough to be morally consistent with normal behavior, but when it comes to deviant behavior, moral consistency is downright impossible.

When an institution bends all the rules of social norms(and takes great pride in having done so) but then still insists on certain 'norms' to exclude the likes of Calliope Wong(LOL), nothing makes any sense.

"We reject norms but maintain our 'norms'."

Sounds like privilege.

Since it was mentioned here Steve, as an adjunct to your 'lesbians aren't gay' meme you might be interested in this:

Things may have changed some, it's been longer than I care to think, but I attended a smallish college in New England and quite naturally heard a lot of talk about other such institutions. Smith did not have a reputation as being full of lesbians. Wellesley College, further east in Massachusetts, was reputed to be the Sapphic choice. Smith students had a reputation for being very studious, often at the cost of being rather non-social. Female nerds if you will.

"Calliope Wong" that made my day lol. How long before the inevitable "transgender" vs homosexual clash for victimhood supremacy?

The left hasnt thought very hard about trannies. The existence of dudes who think they're chicks and wanna wack of their willies doesn't show that gender is an arbitrary social construct unrelated to biological sex. Assuming that trannies don't originate from autogynophilia a la Bailey, then they show that gender is innately linked to sex. When the system breaks and someone ends up with a 'female' mind and a 'male' body, they end up socialized as a boy. Being socialized as boys should make them boys.

I really think the left is pushing trannies mainly because they squick the squares.

Pretty much. The squares who used to be squicked by gays now think they're just cute as the dickens, so something new had to be found to push them with.

A second cousin of mine from Nebraska was at Smith at the same time that I was an undergraduate in Boston, and one year she came in with a friend to attend a couple of parties at my school at the very end of Spring Term. Once we were done with that social whirl, I accompanied them back to Smith for a day.

Most of the other students had cleared out by then. At some point, the three of us decided to take a rowboat out on a lake (the lake? whatever) there, and after a couple of minutes a photographer on shore started shooting us furiously, demanding that we row in closer, etc. It was funny following these orders issued by a stranger, who turned out to be from the admissions office.

A few months later, the resulting shot featured prominently in the materials Smith sent to prospective Freshwomen--on the cover of the booklet if I remember correctly. My cousin was convinced it was because it featured a couple of Smithies with me, a guy. So it's not as though the people in charge weren't aware of certain issues. Then again, this would have been in maybe 1986.

Funny, as the shuttle between MIT and Wellesley as called the F*** truck. It wasn't MIT girls on the truck. No, Wellesley women were still the marrying kind.

My understanding of Smith was that it was far more "lesbians for four" meaning they all played at it, but returned to heterosexuality on graduation.

The best line in all of S** in the City was Charlotte in the back of a cab with her girlfriends discussing her male date's overture, yelling "I can't do "up the ....", I'm from Smith!

General resentment is the new American way. Look at these butthurt babies over at Chase Field, where apparently the stadium's sanctity was violated: clothed men jumping in a facility pool, oh the humanity. Don't we all lose by such tragic actions from winners excited after winning

Heterosexuals are the oppressors. Steve Sailer doesn't know gay people and never will. Lesbians are not holding heterosexual females back from bouncing on penises. The upside down pink triangle was used to categorize gay men in internment camps during the Holocaust. The rainbow isn't specific to gay people.

Brilliant! Everyone take note, use that.

Give it a rest, Queenie. You and your kind wanted out of the closet. You got it. The "love that dare not speak it's name" has become the "love that just won't shut up". You're the talk of the town now. But you don't get to tell us what to think about your deviant little sub-culture. We are not obligated to not notice things.

Peter, my girlfriend was at Smith for a conference and she called as she was leaving, saying she had to get out before someone with a strap-on had her bend over a chair. She felt fewer predatory perusals from Arab guys during her club days than she did from the ladies of Smith.

And that pretty much goes for the whole town of Northhampton. I wonder how difficult guys find living there.

My wife went to Wellesley in the early 1990's. By far most women there were straight, and many had a primary interest in meeting eligible Ivy League and MIT guys as noted by others here. While there is a small minority of lesbians there, there were and are far more at Smith who were at least playing at it. Bryn Mawr was and is so infested that her prep school guidance counselor and several teachers all warned her against applying there (note the date, such behaivor today might get those gentlefolk fired, of course).

Also of note, the towns around Smith in central Mass still have high concentrations of lesbians in the US census returns due to the friendly environment.

My home state's junior senator, Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, went to Smith undergrad.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tammy_Baldwin

Her biography is so predictably stereotypical it reads like it was a work of fiction by Steve Sailer.
